Classic Vanilla Sponge Cake Recipe 🎂🍰

A soft, fluffy, and moist vanilla cake that’s perfect for birthdays or tea-time!


Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • ½ cup milk (warm)
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt

For the Frosting (Optional):

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Batter

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a cake pan.
2️⃣ In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy and fluffy.
3️⃣ Add eggs one by one, beating well after each.
4️⃣ Mix in vanilla extract.
5️⃣ Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
6️⃣ Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet, alternating with warm milk.


Step 2: Bake the Cake

1️⃣ Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
2️⃣ Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
3️⃣ Let the cake cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.


Step 3: Make the Frosting (Optional)

1️⃣ Beat whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
2️⃣ Spread over the cooled cake and decorate as desired!
